GAMBESON
It was always possible to drive the point of a weapon through the rings of a
mail shirt or shear it with a good cut. This often drove the damaged rings deep
into the wound. Even if the blow didn't cut the mail, the blunt trauma alone was
enough to break bone and damage internal organs. A thick, padded garment worn
under a mail shirt greatly reduced the risk of these types of injuries. Our
gambeson is of a type worn from the early middle ages well on through the
Renaissance. Choose M, L or XL. Hangs approx. 32" and weighs 1 1/2 lbs. Black
only.

MAIL
GAUNTLETS
To protect the back of the hand, we have added mail on our black leather
gauntlets and also placed slightly cupped steel lames all around the cuff.
These gauntlets offer good protection to the hand, wrist and lower arm
from a sword slash or draw cut. There's a pair much like these at the Art
Institute of Chicago that are highly decorative, however we have left ours
plain to keep the price down and to allow them to be historically correct
from the Early Middle Ages well into the Renaissance. XS, S, M, L or XL. MR-300008 $75.00
Steel Gorget This stylish knight's armour collar (gorget) wears

Helms
Suede Arming Cap Made of durable suede, one size fits most MC-Arming Cap - $60.00
Tudor Close Helm This is the classic form most often associated with the image of
a knight. During Henry the VIIIs wars in France (1522-1523), this
form of helmet would have been in use on both sides. This excellent
reproduction by the fine craftsmen of Windlass Steelcrafts® is fully
wearable. The term Close Helm refers to the fact that this type
locks firmly around the head for complete protection, with a very
narrow field of vision to expose the eyes as little as possible. The
visor is pierced with key-holes on both sides for good air flow
during combat. The lower bevor section is split into two overlapping
pieces that are hinged at the sides and hook together at the chin
while the visor locks down firmly over it. Made from 16 gauge hammer
hardened steel. MR300432 $225.00
LATE
NORMAN HELM This classic hospitaller nasal helm features a unique hinged
nose guard, as specified by Ridley Scott. Aged 18 gauge steel,
adjustable liner and chin strap. Stand included. Made by Windlass
Steelcrafts®.

TRANSITIONAL
HELMET
This type of helm is an excellent example of the
evolution of the knightly helmet. It is one of the first attempts to protect the
face with more than just a nasal extention or a mail coif with a face flap. This
helm continued on to become the complete head protection of the barral helm. 18
gauge steel Stand included. Made by
Windlass Steelcrafts®.
MR300394 $175.00
BASCINET W/CHAIN MAIL Present on almost all of the grave effigies. Worn under the
Great Helm, it is made for superior head protection and could be
worn alone for foot combat. Adjustable liner. MR-300406 $245.00
Developed early in the 12th Century, the Great Helm became the
manstay of the medieval fighting man, and lasted for about 300
years. Worn over a mail coif and padding this helm has menacing,
narrow eyeslits for maximum protection. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts
from 18 gauge steel.
MR-300418 $185.00

early crusades. Full size & wearable. Skillfully handcrafted in 18
gauge steel. Magnificent! KE8137 $160.00
European Pigface Bascinet This helm is circa 1390. This helm style became popular in the late 13th
century widely replacing the Great Helm because of its close fit styling.
Towards the late 14th century the long snouted appearance had earned it the
English nickname Hounskull, or "Pig-faced bascinet". This exceptional full
size helm is skillfully hand-crafted of 18 gauge steel and adorned with
brass accents. Each helm is wearable and will make an impressive addition to
your collection. KE8106 $198.00

term meaning "curtain-mail" describing the protective curtain of chainmail

chainmail body armour for extra protection. Examples may be seen today in
church brass castings. This fully wearable historical helm is made of 18
gauge steel and is a rare find! KE8127 $178.00
European Comb Morion Helm Circa 1570. Although commonly thought of as a Spanish Morion helmet, this
helm became the universally popular style for the pikemen during the reigns
of Edward VI of England. Full size and handcrafted with brass accents. Fully
wearable! KE8102 $120.00
Tournament Knights Spiked Knights Helm This is no average Knights Helmet, it goes beyond the period styles most
commonly duplicated today. Their spiked stud ornamentation rivals the
efforts and design of those great artists who created tournament armour for
nobles and knights through the middle ages. The purpose of decorated armour
was to intimidate and frighten an opponent. Many frightening and unique
styles of decorated armour and helms can be seen in museums today. We are
proud to offer this fantastic examples of tournament knights helmets and are
sure that you'll agree that spikes do give them a quite menacing touch
that's just perfect for conquering your foe!
KE8214 Price: $248.00
European Bascinet The favored "War Helmet" of the 1300 and early 1400's! During this time
of transition from chain mail to plate armor, the bascinet style helm has
held its place in history. Inventory of the "Duke of Gloucester's" effects
drawn up in 1397 lists two bascinets for "war and jousts" and three helms
(like the frogmouth) for jousts of "peace", implying an actual favor of this
rounded style bascinet for glancing off blows during combat. Detailed with
brass accents. Full size and wearable. KE8110 Price: $186.00
Knights Helm This classic full size knights bascinet helmet from the 17th century

Our brightly colored Roman tunic copies the standard issue to the Roman
legions from the days of the Republic to the end of the Empire (around

are classic and lend themselves to many combinations of clothing from
later periods of history. This oversized shirt extends to mid-thigh,

Spartan's red cloaks as later did the English army. Spartans wore red so
that their enemies would never see them bleed. Shown here with the Roman
